Review Policy
I accept review copies, including advance review copies.
I review books that I like. Books that I love. Books that I think other people may like or love. While I tend not to review books that I don't like, I reserve the right to do so.
If a book is sent because I requested it, the review is usually posted within three weeks of receiving the book.
If a book is sent because I responded to a specific offer of that title, the review is usually posted within three weeks of receiving the book.
With few exceptions, I do not post about books that I don't like. I may request a book, or respond to a solicitation, that has an appealing summary but that, upon reading, I do not like. In that situation, barring something unusual, I will not finish the book and will not post a review. The "something unusual" would be the book winning an award and my reviewing the book to offer an alternate viewpoint.
If unsolicited books or ARCs are received by me, I may or may not review it. I typically post reviews of ARCs no more than two months before the publication date and may post an earlier "teaser" post. During the month of publication, I post a list of all books already reviewed that were published that month.
This blog is the work of an individual. Accordingly, many things may impact when or if a review is posted, including the following: a large number of books being received at the same time; professional commitments; a hectic work schedule; illness; vacation; events, holidays, or anniversary dates.
Books received for review are either retained by me or donated to students or libraries.
